Excel files built in your browser, and much bigger files
Download Excel now builds the
.xlsxfile right in your browser, so your data never leaves your device and the old 4 MB Excel limit is gone. Files up to 200 MB open on a computer (50 MB on phones), and tables past Excel's 1,048,576-row limit continue on extra sheets. The preview also gained more rows on demand, pinned headers, full cell values, column summaries, and a Columns panel to hide or rename columns. -

JSON viewer
The formatter is now a JSON viewer too: paste or drop JSON to explore it as a collapsible tree, search keys and values, and copy the path to any value. Invalid JSON now shows exactly where it breaks, with a button that jumps to the spot, and Open in the Excel converter takes the same JSON straight to a spreadsheet.

Nested lists as rows
Lists inside your records, like orders or line items, can now become one row per item instead of numbered columns, in both the Excel and Google Sheets converters. See both layouts on the new nested JSON to Excel page.

JSON to Google Sheets
A new JSON to Google Sheets tool: paste or upload JSON, copy a sheet-ready table, and paste it into cell A1, all in your browser. It also includes a free
IMPORTJSONApps Script function for pulling a JSON URL into a sheet. -

Free tier lowered to 10 requests/month
The Free API tier's quota dropped from 500 to 10 requests/month: enough to evaluate the API, not to run it in production. Pro (20,000/month) is unchanged.

Returning users can sign in with a passwordless email link to see their API key, usage against their plan, and manage or cancel billing — no password to remember or lose.

Developer API launched
A rate-limited, authenticated
/v1/convertendpoint with Free (500 requests/month) and Pro (20,000/month) tiers, self-serve API keys, and Stripe billing for upgrades. -

Site navigation, and safer downloads

-
July 22, 2026
Contact page and expanded guide library
Added a direct contact page, and grew the blog with additional JSON/CSV/Excel reference guides.
-
July 21, 2026
Paste JSON is now the default
Swapped the default input tab from Upload File to Paste JSON, since most visitors arrive with JSON already in hand.
-
July 18, 2026
Sortable preview table
The data preview shown before converting is now a real sortable table — click any column header to sort ascending or descending.
-
July 16, 2026
CSV support, dark mode, and rate limiting
Added CSV as a second input format alongside JSON, automatic dark mode based on system preference, a request-size guard, and API-level rate limiting to keep the service reliable.
